MAW3
The foundation of any repository is the informatics platform. The Duke-IGSP Biorepository has adopted Medical Assistant on the World Wide Web (MAW3®), developed by Duke Pathology, for the integrated collection, annotation, storage, and distribution of biospecimens. MAW3® is a secure, web-based biorepository informatics platform that is deployable at remote sites for data entry and query.
- Security and Permissions
The ability of MAW3® to define roles-based access privileges for repository staff and users, and to store electronic signatures that meet 21CFR11 requirements including a full audit trail of changes made to the database, provide security measures necessary to ensure data privacy and integrity.
- Inventory Management and Chain-of-Custody Tracking
MAW3® employs barcode-based chain-of-custody and inventory management functionalities to track the precise location and status of every specimen at all times.
- Specimen Annotation
MAW3® provides the ability to annotate specimens with relevant sample and donor data, including de-identified demographic and clinical information, processing information and QC data, and sample histories.
- Query and Reporting
Through the flexible and robust query and reporting functionalities of MAW3®, researchers may query across data sets to identify available samples meeting specified requirements. This site is in development.
