The IGSP IT staff provides computer support, designs and maintains the storage and computational infrastructure, and executes a broad range of programming projects for individual researchers and for groups and core facilities.

Sabrina Carr - User Support Tech.

Sabrina Carr serves as the user support technician for IGSP staff, students, and faculty. She is the person to contact for computer setup, software installation, and computer ordering.

Alan Cowles - Systems Administrator

Alan Cowles serves as systems administrator and is the primary data storage architect. He works with researchers to procure additional enterprise storage and manages the storage so that is can be used on the IGSP computational infrastructure and the Duke Shared Cluster Resource, a high performance computer cluster administered by Duke's Scalable Computing Support Center. He is the contact person for cloud-based installations, (Amazon EC2 and the DSCR).

Mark DeLong, PhD - Director

Mark DeLong, PhD Mark DeLong leads and manages the IT group. He is particularly interested in harmonizing life sciences research processes with information technology and in emerging computation technologies including specialized computer processors, "cloud" computing, high performance computing, and development of high-throughput analysis systems.

Darin London - Analyst, IT, Sr.

Darin London has a special interest and focus on the development of large-scale and automated analysis pipelines. He has worked on IGSPnet, the Institute's "single sign-on" authentication system, and on features for the Express data repository. He has particular expertise in Perl and systems programming.

Darrin Mann- Analyst, IT, Sr

Darrin Mann programs special features of the Express data repository that serve individual researchers and the IGSP core facilities. He has worked on various web programming and scientific analysis projects for the cores and individual researchers and has particular expertise in Javascript and Ruby-On-Rails. He also works closely with the database administrator on projects written in Oracle Application Express (aka, Apex) and on the Ionmap database project.

David Daniel - Database Administrator

David Daniel serves as the database administrator and is responsible for the maintenance and performance of Oracle and MySQL databases as well as the design and creation of new databases. He has worked in web operations in support of a high volume website with an emphasis on open source technologies. He is available for consultation and is the primary contact for the creation and development of IGSP research and administrative databases.
