IGSPnet is the authentication system for many of the Institute's web-based resources, including the Express Data Repository and core facilities' online submissions system.
Express Data Repository holds data sets produced by core facilities and uploaded by Duke researchers and their collaborators. It is a true repository, in that data cannot be changed once it is put into Express. Data integrity features include data "fingerprinting" on upload and strict access controls managed by data owners. Web services in place and under development extend the repository features so that it can be used for automatic analysis processes.
Duke NetID services (OIT) offers Duke employees and students tools to manage their passwords, email, and online services provided by the University. The online Duke directory is also available at that website. The Duke NetID is the username and password authentication system used on many Duke websites and computer systems, including the IGSP's computational servers, network storage "shares," and IGSPnet.
DHE accounts are used for Duke Medicine systems, including Duke Medicine VPN and PGP whole disc encryption. DHE stands for "Duke Health Enterprise." DHE password changes are required to be renewed every 180 days, or the account is disabled and can be reactivated only by calling the Duke Medicine service desk (919-684-2243).
Current outages of computer, networking, and phone systems are reported on OIT's website, which has lots of other useful information. The OIT service desk is available by phone at 919-684-2200.
Duke University Information Security Office and the Duke Medicine Information Security Office have resources and policies relating to secure use of computers. As an entity that is part of Duke Medicine in the School of Medicine and of the University as a whole, the IGSP follows policies from the University and Duke Medicine.
